The CANIS Laboratory is a research resource at the University of Illinois, whose mission is designing and implementing new models for the Future of the Net. We develop pioneering information systems for real-world biomedical applications. National models of Network Information Systems include the Telesophy System, the Worm Community System, the Digital Library Testbed, the Interspace Prototype, the Medspace Prototype, the Health Monitor, and the BeeSpace Navigator. Funding has been provided by flagship grants from NSF and DARPA. An in-progress book predicts future trends in global network infrastructure: The Evolution of the Net. An auditorium lecture is available via streaming video for Predicting Global Infrastructure. More recent is the Google Tech Talk on Towards Telesophy: Federating All the World's Knowledge.
